My Story
My Journey
I’m driven by curiosity, a desire to understand, and a passion for creating environments that foster growth and collaboration. Before becoming an Instructional Designer, I spent over a decade helping individuals, teams, and organizations navigate challenges and build meaningful solutions as a social worker and therapist. These experiences taught me how to ask the right questions, develop thoughtful learning objectives, and design with intention.
Throughout my career working in schools, nonprofits, and small businesses, I was always drawn to the moments when I got to design with people in mind and work on solutions to challenges faced by people every day. I’ve found that when learning begins with a clear understanding of what is needed and is then translated into building practical skills, learning becomes a powerful driver of an organization’s success and sustainability.
Drawing from my experience in client-facing roles, I bring skills in needs assessment, problem-solving, and stakeholder collaboration to every project. I believe engaging learning experiences begin by understanding the root of a challenge and translating information in a relatable way through storytelling and real-world scenarios that motivate and equip learners.
I have completed The eLearning Designers’ Academy and Camtasia’s Certificate Program. I am also a national member of the Association of Talent Development(ATD). I hold a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor’s degree in International Politics from North Carolina State University.
My Experience
My Perspective
Stepping into Instructional Design has felt like a natural evolution of my work, where I can bring together my strengths in analysis, active listening, and collaboration to create learning experiences that are both impactful and learner-centered.
One experience that sparked my interest in Instructional Design was when I had the chance to craft a workshop series for a group of learners. I started with their needs, not just the topic, and as the sessions went on, I adjusted the content and format based on their feedback and what was resonating. The process of listening, adapting, and designing something that worked was an energizing moment where it clicked for me.
